This recipe for a pitcher of margarita always gets the party started!
I really hope that this isn’t supposed to be a “secret…” Because I’ve been telling people. My bonus dad’s margarita recipe has a little something extra: a splash of Monster. There is nearly always two pitchers in their fridge: one of lemonade, and one of margaritas…Which…is honestly a pretty good way to live life.
The recipe is for the whole pitcher – perfect for a crowd. I thought that the Golden Hurricane deserved its own signature drink….What better way to celebrate than with a golden drink in a blue-rimmed glass? Although you can’t bring your homemade concoction into the stadium, I did read that they’re serving wine this year at the football games, which is not a bad alternative! But this may be great for those away games you’re watching on your couch with some friends on your AppleTV, or the end of the summer picnic, or in a to-go cup at your PTA meeting (Just kidding about the last one. Sort of.).
The one part about this recipe that might be considered a little extra effort is the orange syrup. Now, Doug doesn’t add in this orange syrup, but he uses real-life orange liqueur, which you can also do… But I made my syrup with equal parts water and honey, and then simmered some orange peels in it for a few minutes. Plus, it keeps a long time and you can also use it for tea.
Local Spotlight: My orange syrup was made from local honey! Also, in case you missed the post that I wrote about World Market coming to town, that is where I got these gorgeous margarita glasses, and you can read all about the rest of the haul here!
As always, enjoy responsibly, and Reign ‘Cane!

That is one fine looking cocktail! I never thought about orange or Monster in a magharita but that sounds so good I’m going make one this weekend. I’m sure that it is going to find a regular spot in our cocktail rotation.
