Start with a perfectly brewed cup of coffee, and then mix it with some gourmet flavors for a dairy free peppermint mocha for the holiday season!
Coffee was graciously provided by Fair Fellow Coffee Company, and I am so glad that I get to share their story with you today!
To make the perfect cup of coffee at home, you’ll need just two things: the perfect coffee and the perfect coffee maker.
First, the coffee maker.
Since breaking my last French press (why are those things made of glass?!), we’ve had a big hole in our lives and on our counter that only a coffee maker can fill. Then, I got an email that BUNN wanted to send me a coffee maker to try out, and I couldn’t believe my luck! The BUNN HB Coffeemaker makes a flavorful cup of coffee by evenly saturating and steeping the grounds with a Heat & Release technology, which evenly disperses water over the grounds when it reaches the appropriate temperature, to prevent scalding or bitter coffee. For someone who doesn’t have a whole lot of experience with coffee makers, I was so glad to find out it’s super easy. Here – here’s how:
- Put in a filter, coffee grounds and water.
- Press Brew.
- #enJOY!
That’s it! You can even program it to a certain time so that you can wake up to the smell of coffee! This coffee maker is gorgeous, and fits right into our coffee and tea corner in the kitchen, don’t you think? The HB Coffeemaker is exclusively sold at Williams-Sonoma or BUNN’s catalog or website, in case you want to get one of your own!
Second, the coffee. It’s today’s Local Spotlight!
Fair Fellow Coffee Company is in a great spot in the newly revitalized neighborhood of Kendall-Whittier here in Tulsa. They believe in ethical treatment of their coffee workers, and source their coffee through a supplier that ensures they are being treated fairly. They then roast the beans onsite, in Tulsa’s only air-roaster (Co-owner Kait described it like a popcorn popper!). Every cup and every bean is fresh and perfectly ready for drinking. I drank my first hot latte there, and have to say, I was sad to get to the bottom of my cup, but glad I had the opportunity to take some of their beans home and try them for myself. I talked to Kait for hours, and was glad to make a new friend with such great taste!
Put this coffee maker and coffee together and you’re bound to have success. Between the air roasting and BUNN’s brewing method receiving the Specialty Coffee Association of America’s “professional” designation, you’ll have a better-than-you-know-where cup of coffee in no time, ready for your work mug. Although it’s really hard to improve upon such a perfectly crafted cup of joe, I’m also including a DIY Starbucks copycat recipe so that you can feel like your very own at-home barista. Just in time for the holidays, I bring you: the dairy free peppermint mocha. The photos are for an iced version, but I tried both and they’re delicious either way!
