I’ve been meaning to make protein balls for awhile now, and I’m so glad that I finally took the plunge. They’re made with 5 ingredients, plus a little water, and come together really quickly! They’re perfect for a snack when you’re craving something sweet, or need a pick-me-up during or after a workout.

My husband is a raw cookie dough eater. Are you? When I made these, he mentioned that they actually TASTE like cookie dough, which is amazing, because it’s actually good for you! We bought some quality chocolate chips for this, and it really gives it the sweetness that they deserve. I made oat flour from quick oats that I processed until fine in the food processor.

I also used a mixture of peanut and almond butter, because I had a little leftover almond butter in a jar and then made more peanut butter, so I just poured it on in and mixed them together. However, either should work, as long as they’re both natural (so, kind of runny). If you want to make your own nut butter, I talk about how here!

Content Note: You may have noticed my additions on my title. I wanted to make it easier for you to be able to tell the types of diets that recipes adhere to, especially when it’s more than one. The little “m” stands for “modify,” meaning that depending on what ingredients you use, it can be modified to fit that diet. In this case, it is mGF and mDF (modified gluten and dairy free). While oats are technically gluten free, many of them are processed alongside glutinous grains, making them not exactly gluten free in processing unless explicitly stated. And if the protein powder you’re using is plant-based, and get dairy free chocolate chips, you could get away with the recipe being dairy-free also. I hope this extra information is helpful! These adaptations will be noted on the recipe card.

Let me know if you make these chocolate chip protein balls!

I’ve made a short video to show you how easy it is:

What a fun and helpful video. I love that you are focusing on top quality ingredients here. Local honey is a really nice touch as well. Quality in – quality out. Healthy raw cookie dough – what’s better than that!

Great question! Those stats will primarily depend on the brand of protein powder, chocolate and nut butters you are using. You can calculate it using an app like “My Fitness Pal” and entering the whole recipe!
